Ethical Conduct Rules and Implementation Policy
Istanbul Aydın University aims to educate individuals who are responsible toward their country and the world, who create added value, and who focus on human-centered approaches while producing knowledge. To achieve this, it strives to become a symbol of reliability, continuity, and respectability for its students, graduates, employees, suppliers, and non-governmental organizations on both national and global scales. The Ethical Conduct Rules adopt the following principles with the understanding that “Our most valuable asset is our human resource,” embracing superior business ethics, honest work, being the best at all times, generating resources for continuous development, and strengthening the country.
PRINCIPLES
- Communication with Stakeholders: Valuing employees, respecting employee rights, and acting within ethical rules.
- Employee Health and Occupational Safety: Fulfilling all legal and other obligations related to occupational health and safety and adopting the principle that improvement activities in this area are the shared responsibility of all employees.
- Information Management: Placing high importance on ensuring that all types of information and documents produced within the institution remain within the institution.
- Institutional Disclosure: Ensuring that statements made for news or promotional purposes are issued only by IAU representatives designated in accordance with the Institutional Disclosure Principles.
- Communication with the Public: Avoiding personal statements by academic staff that may be perceived as representing the University when sharing views with the public.
- Employee Responsibility: Acting in accordance with relevant ethical rules and all implementation principles supporting these rules in all duties, and avoiding behaviors in professional or personal life that may harm the reputation of IAU.
- Compliance with Laws and Legal Processes: Acting in line with the laws, international agreements to which the Republic of Türkiye is a party, the Regulation on Foundation Universities, and the policies and working principles of the Foundation in all areas of activity, and preventing any employee—except those authorized in accordance with the valid signature circular or specific authorization documents—from engaging in any action that may bind IAU legally.
- Institutional Competition: Avoiding being a party to any agreement or behavior with competitors or other individuals or organizations that aims to or may prevent, distort, or restrict competition beyond what is permitted by legislation.
- Avoiding Confidentiality and Conflicts of Interest: Reporting to the administration any situation where legal regulations, laws, notifications/regulations, legislation, or rules applicable to the University are believed to have been violated.
- Protection of Intellectual Property Rights: Ensuring that the necessary legal procedures for securing the intellectual property rights of newly developed services, processes, and software are initiated and completed on time; and avoiding the unauthorized use—knowingly—of patents, copyrights, trade secrets, trademarks, computer programs, or other intellectual and industrial property rights belonging to other institutions.
